And then there's social media.

I can imagine some pretty frickin' dystopian scenarios

where things like internet quizzes,

dating apps, horoscopes, bots,

all combine to drag you down

deeper and deeper rabbit holes

into bad relationships and worse politics.

 

But then I think about the conversations that

I've had with people who work on AI,

and what I always hear from them is that the smarter AI gets,

the better it is at making connections.

 

So maybe the social media of the future will be better.

Maybe it'll help us to form healthier,

less destructive relationships.

 

Maybe we'll have devices

that enable togetherness and serendipity.

 

I really hope so.

And, you know,

I like to think that if strong AI ever really exists,

they'll probably enjoy our weird relationship drama

the same way that you and I love to obsess

about the "Real Housewives of Wherever."

이제 SNS 얘기를 해보죠.

꽤 비 이상향적인 시나리오가 상상되는데

인터넷 퀴즈나 데이팅 앱, 별자리점, 채팅봇들이 합쳐져

여러분을 점점 더 깊은 나쁜 관계와

더 나쁜 정치의 토끼굴로 끌어들이는 거예요.

 

하지만 인공지능 업계에서 일하는 사람들과

나눴던 대화들을 생각해봅니다.

그들이 항상 말하길 인공지능이 더 똑똑해질수록

관계를 맺는 게 더 쉬워질 거라는 거예요.

미래의 SNS는 더 나을지도 몰라요.

우리가 더 건강하고 덜 파괴적인 관계를 맺을 수 있도록 도와줄 수도 있고

우리가 함께 뜻밖의 재미를 누릴 수 있게 해주는 기기가 발명될 수도 있죠.

정말 그랬으면 좋겠어요.

 

더 강력한 인공지능이 정말로 존재한다면

아마 우리가 "어딘가의 진짜 주부"에 집착하는 것처럼

우리의 이상한 관계적 드라마를 즐기겠죠.
