And the Qasab reed is integral to every aspect of life.

It is food for water buffalo,

flour for humans and building material for these biodegradable,

buoyant islands and their cathedral-like houses that they construct in as little as three days.

And this dried Qasab reed,

it can be bundled into columns,

it can be woven into floors or roofs or walls,

and it can also be twisted into a rope

that's used to bind these buildings without the use of any nails.

The Maʿdān villages are constructed in the marsh,

as they have been for generations,

on islands that stay afloat for over 25 years.

그리고 대성당 같이 생긴 집은 단 3일 안에 건축됩니다.

말린 카삽 갈대는 여러개를 묶어서 기둥으로 만들 수 있고,

짜서 바닥, 지붕 또는 벽으로 만들 수 있고,

꼬아서 이러한 건물들을 못 하나 없이 묶을 수 있는 로프로 만들 수 있습니다.

마단 마을들은 습지에 건설돼 있고,

여러 세대가 섬 위에서 생활했으며,

이 섬은 25년이 넘는 기간 동안 떠 있는 상태를 유지하고 있습니다.
