When you imagine the architectural wonders of the world,

what do you see?

The greatness of the Pyramids of Giza

or maybe the amazing aqueducts of Ancient Rome?

Both of these are amazing feats of human innovation.

As an architect,

I've often wondered

why do we monumentalize the ancient wonders of civilizations

that collapsed such a long time ago?

I've traveled the world studying ancient innovation,

and what I've found are Indigenous technologies from living cultures that are still in use.

And some of these cultures you may have never heard of.

They live in the most remote places on earth,

facing environmental extremes like desert drought and

frequent flooding for generations.

종종 아주 오래 전 붕괴 된 고대 문명의 불가사의를

왜 기념하는지 궁금했습니다.

저는 고대 혁신을 공부하며 전 세계를 여행했고,

여행을 통해 발견한 것들은 생활 문화의 토착 기술인데

여전히 사용하고 있습니다.

이 문화 중 몇몇은 아마도 여러분들이 들어본 적이 없을 수도 있습니다.

그들은 몇 대에 걸쳐서

사막의 가뭄이나 빈번한 홍수와 같은 극한 환경을 마주하며

지구에서 가장 동 떨진 곳들에서 삽니다
