Every science fiction writer has a story about a time

when the future arrived too soon.

I have a lot of those stories.

Like, OK, for example:

years ago, I was writing a story

where the government starts using drones to kill people.

 

I thought that this was a really intense, futuristic idea,

but by the time the story was published,

the government was already using drones to kill people.

모든 공상 과학 소설 작가들은

갑자기 닥쳐온 미래에 대한 이야기를 담고 있습니다.

저도 그런 이야기를 많이 썼어요.

예를 들어, 몇년 전,

저는 정부가 드론으로 사람을 죽이는 소설을 쓰고 있었습니다.

당시 이 아이디어가 꽤 강렬하고 미래지향적이라고 생각했는데

제 소설이 발표될 때쯤에는

정부는 이미 살상 목적으로 드론을 사용하고 있었습니다.
